Hi

I have access to a iMac DV (G3 400MHz, 256MB RAM, 13GB HD). Can this guy run OS X 10.2x just to play around with or would I be wasting my time?

Looking to buy a Mac in the future, but no immediate need, so thought I might use this July 2000 Vintage iMac to just test out OS X if it would not be too slow.

Thanks!

-Scott

    Hi BlueRabbit,

    Are you running 10.26?

    Can your system capture video?

    Thanks!

    I've used 10.0 - 10.1.5 on an iMac DV 400. 10.2.x will be fine.

My family runs 10.2.6 on a 400mhz indigo imac with 320megs of ram. It runs fine. HD space is getting scarce, but that's not the computer's fault.

I'm running MacOS-X 10.2.6 on my iMac G3/350 (512MB of RAM). It runs a bit slow - but it's worth it!

I have 10.2.6 running on my iMac 266 with 384megs of memory. It's slow but it can surf the net and run office with no problem. It sounds like it would be a nice machine to get your feet wet.

My purple 400 Mhz iMac with 320 MB of memory zips along just fine with 10.2.6. does the mail, safari, project builder, quicken, iTunes, X11, iPhoto... doesn't play newer games that require better graphcis card...

    I've got a iMac DV+, G3 450Mhz, OS X 10.2.4, 576MB RAM.

OS X Works fine with me, although it can feel slow at time but then again i'm quite harsh on my computer.

I have captured DV video using it and it all worked like a dream. iMovie used to crash a little in 9 but in X it's very stable, OS X is worth it for the stability when things crash compared to in 9 alone in my opinion
