God how did anyone believe apple was going to switch to intel.
easy. Apple of yesterday, had kick ass software, and sub-par hardware(for the most part) what's the point for the company to sustain their hardware, when it stinks(relatively) and their software is the real awesome thing about the platform?
That's the rationale behind believing a possible switch to x86 hardware.
Of course, I never believed it, but surely you cannot dismiss how it was not that unrealistic given apples former situation.

I think it was obvious cause apple just had a major transitoin to os x moving everything to x86 would seriously piss off developrs and really screw them over.
That's his job - being a curmudgeon so as to provoke thoughts, discussion, purchase the magazine, drive traffic to the site, etc. He blasts PC, Linux, Mac, big corp, small people, etc.
He's not completely well informed on the Mac side (is Dvorak?), which is par for the course. Let's see if Dvorak can do better.
Methinks Dvorak has to pull a rabbit to beat this guy. Is he completely clueless or is he just trolling?
Opteron? Comeon - that's a server chip. Might as well benchmark it against the Power4 and see who comes out on top. 1GHz bus incrementally faster than the quad-pumped 250Mhz P4 bus? Read an article or two - it's not all in the numbers. No mention of PCI-X. DDR 400 already in use on the PC so no biggie? Where can you get faster RAM which is a recognized standard these days?

Top Ten Reasons Why Dvorak Hates The New Power Mac G5:
10. It looks like a woman's Remington shaver.
9. The G5 is only 1 faster than a G4.
8. It works well as a cheese grater, but leaves much to be desired as bamboo steamer.
7. He was forced by Jonathan Ives to pronounce it "aluminium".
6. It brings up images of JYD's auto fellatio.
5. His sense of style and taste told him Formica and gold chains is where it's at in desktops this year.
4. Intel and Microsoft paid him to hate it.
3. Because Steve Jobs sucks. How can you trust someone who doesn't eat meat?
2. He's really Clive.
1. He can't get one until August.
"2. He's really Clive."
It's all starting to make sense..
