The folders with "VCDs" that I download from BitTorrent client don't open in Toast and MPlayer and VLC just hang. What is wrong with them, is it some PC centric thing? MPlayer has done such a good job opening everything I was disappointed since BT downloads are INSTANT. I'm not joking.

Ah, I think I know where your problem is. BT creates a file at the very beginning of the download that has the same size of the completely downloaded product. I don't know why it does this, but that's the way it works. You do actually have to wait a bit for it to download... BT is fast, but not instantaneous.

Just make sure that it finishes downloading before you try opening it... VLC should work at that point.

That is weird. I mean I knew it was too good to be true, forget violating ethernet speed, the hard drive isn't that fast. But when I copy it, it says it copies x... of 1.57 gigs for example. Weird. The progress bar stays at 0%. I'll try waiting a while for a download to finish. edit: When I throw the folder away it even says in a Finder window that a gig has been cleared out. This is just strange.

It's not strange at all. When you start a BT download, it creates an empty file with the final size, then during the download it fills in that file piece by piece. Sort of like putting together a jigsaw puzzle; you want to clear off enough space to hold the thing while you're putting it together.

Right, I understand, but are there any other programs that do it this way? I've never noticed it before.

No, BitTorrent is rather unique that way...and despite this peskiness, it rocks on toast.
