What happened to my startup screen?

My Mac lost its startup chime so I reset the PRAM.

Now the satartup chime is back, but my startup screen on my 20" Cinema Display is distorted, the Apple is much bigger and stretched and the spinning wheel is also.



Any ideas?

    your screen is just using a bad resolution. When your mac is booted, can you change the resolution with the monitor panel ? If not, try to boot without your screen pluged. Then re-plug your screen. It should work... I have a similar problem withmy CRT screen.

    most machines boot with the lowest possible monitor settings, so you will always get the boot screen. once the computer starts running, the display will kick back to normal. nothing really to worry about.
