If its possible please merge this thread with the thread with the almost similar name. It really needed a poll to clear up the actual need for a second drive.
call me petty, but this is the only reason why I didn't get a G5... the HDs I could live with, but I didn't want to have to shell out more $ for an external case for a superdrive...
well, that and there is no affordable dual machine
I appreciate your attempt at clarity but I doubt this poll will really bring focus to the discussion. It is not about whether you or I need a second opticaL drive, but does the intended market need a second optical drive. A lot of casual and pro-sumer tower users are looking to upgrade to the G5 but the G5 is positioned as a server/workstation class machine. It is targeting the professional user, not the layman. Unless most of the respondents to this poll are professional grade users who fit into the target market, then the responses will be less than useless IMO.

I've got a SuperDrive in my MDD. It allows me to burn DVDs, but burns CDs excrutiatingly slowly.
So I'd like to have a really fast CD-R, too.
"But, you can install a second optical drive in a MDD", I hear you say? Yes, but I don't need it.
Also, I've set eyes upon a great Kenzo shirt that i'd much rather buy than sinking even deeper in geekdom.

I have two on order, and voted "No".
