How can I go from QT 6 to mpeg-2?

Now that QuickTime 6 supports mpeg-4, I can't see an easy way to make an mpeg-2 file.

I want to send a few clips to some PC friends and they won't be able to handle the prospect of *gasp* downloading and installing QT6.

Damn you Apple and your non-backwards compatabilty on this one.

you can. but it'll cost you 29.99 from Apple. the MPEG 2 encoder/decoder is available from the apple store and is a pay download. They have to charge due to licensing fees

Thanks dude, but if you mean this:

    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/products/mpeg2playback/

    then you should read this:

    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/produ...yback/faq.html

"Can I create MPEG-2 content with the QuickTime 6 MPEG-2 Playback Component?

No, the QuickTime 6 MPEG-2 Playback Component does not contain an MPEG-2 encoder, therefore encoding or creating MPEG-2 content is not supported. The component is only a decoder, enabling playback of MPEG-2 content."

I can't see anything on the Apple site that would let me save to mpeg-2

    shit, i never knew that

    I must say, that sucks.

Um... so I guess the only way to do it (legally) with an Apple codec is to pay 1000 bucks for DVD Studio Pro\
