Question about iTrip

I am a bit confused. The iTrip allows you to play your iPOD stored music through your car stereo. Meaning, I can listen to my iPod music via my car stereo speakers and get FM radio to boot. I was looking at it online and just couldn't figure out how it attaches itself to my stereo (which is AM/FM tape at the moment)

Also, I have read other topics posted here and stuff from apples web site and still can't quite see how this works.

Basically want I want it to be able to play the songs on my iPod over my stereo speakers like what we did back in the old school days when we had tape players and wanted to play CDs, we had to stick that stupid tape into the deck that had a cord attached to our mini CD player.

If I am correct, the iPod just goes along with your own FM signal to play the radio and I just don't get that? I already have FM radio.

Thanks. Jessica

You are right, there are no cables or attachments, the iTrip wirelessly transmits an FM radio signal from your iPod, like a radio station which only broadcasts to the inside of your car. I think the iTrip has a few different frequencies so it doesn't get mixed up with any radio stations which happen to share them. You just set your car stereo to FM radio, and then you can tune your radio into your iPod's broadcast.

Ya it does have a few frequences (Or is that the Belkin one) Grifin is working on a new iTrip that will work with the new iPod.

The reception is not that great though, and you only get 10 feet, but for your car, it works pretty good. you just tune to the same frequency on your FM radio that the iTrip uses on your iPod will work through your sterio
