Humming Audio

Anyone here know how to get rid of that annoying humming sound when connecting to a stereo. I am using a mini-jack output to stereo RCA plugs and it is the best quality one I can find. It does it on my eMac and on my iBook as well. I am looking to play my mp3s through my stereo but the humming is so loud I can't.

Thanks

It could be a ground loop or interference with your power cables - try not to have the audio cables lying in close proximitiy to your power cables.

Otherwise, try routing the Minijack to a mixer, amplifying it some and then sending it out through balanced cables to your speakers. That should improve the S/N ratio.

    Hope this helps.

I had this same problem. What I did was hooked the RCA wires into the Auxilary input on the receiver instead of the Phono or Tape input. The sound cleaned up right away. Also, you might want to check all your connections to make sure they are fitting tight, or not too tight. I would just try the Aux. input first. Good luck.
