I can't get mail to send through my mail.adelphia.net asks for password,it sends then not accepted so i can't send email from my iMac. checked my prefs etc. but doen'st work. is it my isp (windows laptop has no problem sending email through adelphia) the error box says isp doesn't recognize my password

Is this a problem with "mail"

Is there a way to import my netscape 7.1 (windows laptop) to my mail application e.g. send as an attachment then import? or do i have to do this manually--yuch.

should i get entourage or eudora as a substitute.

is there a way to upload my netscape address book to my online .Mac account, maybe use this as my mail program.

Check that you're using the *correct* authentication method in Mail, for your ISP setup.

Go to the Mail Preferences, click on Accounts in the toolbar at the top.

Double-click your adelphia account in the list.

At the bottom of the new sheet that pops up, you'll see an Options... button. Click it.

Now you can set up exactly how Mail contacts your ISP's outgoing mail server. Make sure which way they want SSL (on or off), and double-check which authentication they're using.

My mother had a similar problem, and it turned out that she had selected Kerberos because she'd heard it was 'more secure'. *sigh*

As to your Netscape address book... if Netscape can export it as vCards (and I think it does, if I remember right), then Address Book on your Mac can import them directly. Export it from Netscape, mail it to yourself as an attachment, click on it in Mail, and Address Book will launch and import everything at one shot.

And since this is basically a question based thread, instead of discussion, off to Genius Bar with ye. *boot*
