Which Windows OS to get with Virtual PC?

I'm getting Virtual PC, but I'm wondering which OS to get with it - XP, 2000, 98, etc.

I assume that XP is very slow. Is it better to get a faster but older version of Windows?

What computer specs do you have? If you have a fast computer get 2000. If it's slower you'll need 98 as 2000 barely gets by on my maxed out PBG4 12". 2000 never crashes but the tradeoff is speed. Some things also don't run in 2000 that run in 98. if you get 2k stay with SP2, I hear the other ones slow it down a lot.

get the dos version to save yourself some $ and then pirate windows make sure you get the corporate version of XP as it doesn't have the activation "feature"

NT4 is a godsend. Contextually speaking.

Actually I've just moved from 98 to 2000 and I swear it's faster. Something about W2K being 32bit and not 16bit is the explanation I read somewhere on the Connectix forums or was it macwindows.com ... Best have a look there. My 2 somethings.

I've heard that too, that 2000 is faster than 98.
