Just curious as to who in the Mac community is still interested in them. It seems to still be fairly pricey when compared to a low end G5.

I guess not. Can anyone make an argument for a G4 PM over a G5?

Yes our family will when it hits three digits instead of four. Even 1299 is a ripoff because it's only a single 1.25ghz. Either that or an iMac if they get a lot cheaper.

You gave us 30 minutes to answer

We just bought 10 DP1.25 G4s (the discontinued models) because they were cheap.

i'm in germany now and can get a new 1GHz G4 for 990 EUR ... i think for some people it would be worth it... but i will get my hands on the dual 2GHz G5 as soon as apples stock price rises a little bit more ;-)

that'd be a nice thing - i will spend the money i make with my apple shares into apple products

$1,600 per Mac and since out main app seems to be using both processors, I expect them to be faster than the low end G5.

    I bought a 1.25ghz G4 Power Mac last week for £999 (uk)

I put in the DVD burner ( sorry, but I think "Superdrive" sounds cheesy ) from my pc, an extra 60 gig hard drive and an extra 1 gig of memory.

It's an excellent machine for me and for what I use it for so I'm very happy with it. Of course the G5's will wipe the floor with it, and good luck to people who are buying them, but I couldn't honestly justify the cost.

Really? Apple's only been using the term for about, hm, twenty years now. Why don't you write them a suggestion and tell them that?

Apple may have been using the term for twenty years but I haven't.

The G4s can hold more internal hard drives and 2 optical drives.

I have a Dual 867 with a Gig RAM, one 40GB and one 60GB HD, Superdrive, ATI Radeon 9000 Pro I'd be happy to sell for, say, US$1200. But the problem is, I'm in Jamaica - ain't gonna pay that shipping bill
