Ok one problem. When I'm trying to one way video chat with someone who only has a microphone and I have my Logitec USB Cam and my Logitec USB headset microphone (yes its the SOCOM one). They cannot hear me even though I have it set to use the headset as the sound input but I can hear myself typing and the echo of myself talking. I dont know anyone with whom I can do a full video chat... so I'm SOL for now.

In order to video chat both parties have to have a cam... it wont work 1 way...
I dont know that sounds semi-dumb to me. I think that if I have a webcam with video and audio and my friend has only audio that if I wanted to he should be able to at least see the video. I don't get why they limit it to equal types of connections between parties.
well there IS 1 way video... but it is 1 way audio as well... for example the only feedback the person with the camera can get is text... the person on the receiving end should be able to get both A&V but not transmit anything other then text...
at least that is how it worked for me...
also BOTH machines regardless of whether or not they are transmitting video need to have 600+G3 in order to view video...
I don't have a cam. However, I installed iChatUSBCam and was able to receive a one-way "V" on my 400 MHz iMac. I could see them. They had an iBot. At the other end, they just saw themselves.
The "A" was two-way. Very clear. I was using my Logictech USB headset from SOCOM.
I have a .mac account. The other person just has an AIM account.
All in all - a very cool experience. Totally better than Yahoo IM on a PC.

For audio to work, uncheck the Audio tab in VIDEO settings (in menu), then reselect it. Presto, audio works.
Awesome.
wonder how long Apple cuts out USB webcam support
Are there any hacks to get iChat to work with Hotmail users???
THAT would be the cherry on top

I'm tempted to go out and purchase an iSight.
