Jaguar Network Speedups

Generally I use the application "cocktail" to speed up my ethernet connection. Just by changing some settings I see huge improvements in my web browsing and other activities.

My question is this:

In jaguar under Network > Ethernet there is an option to set the MTU (Maximum Packet Size) Currently set to the default of 1500. Might I see any improvement if I set it higher? I'm guessing if I set it wrong there will be packet loss. I'm on 1.5mb DSL and get about 980mb in speed tests. Any recommend settings, and is there anyway to monitori it?

System Preferences: (Show Built In Ethernet) Ethernet:

    Enter password if its locked.

    Choose: Configure: Manually (Advanced)

There you can change the MTU size.

How about AirPort (en2) or (en1) port?

Can't set it the same way for Airport.

I can't get into my AirPort Admin Utility at the moment but I would suppose it's configurable there, although I have not tried it. Since that is what is physically connected I just assume it's controlled there.

I don't know what changing the settings does, for performance, one way or another, sorry.

But the question remains is it any good to change it too? And what do you recommend?

For Ethernet you cannot set the MTU higher than 1500 (unless you have an all-Gigabit network where every machine has MTU 9000).

Same here, I don't see this MTU option.
