Is there a way to have programms running while at the login screen and continue even if people login and out?

I would like to stream my music to myself at work but since other family members use this computer...

Also can anyone suggest good streamers? (i guess i could just use iTunes4 since i didn't update yet)

i Believe that with fast user switching in panther... this will work... however noone can open iTunes or you will lose your stream... (i think...)

I don't know what app you would use for streaming, but I have RC5-72 in /Library/StartupItems on a system 3000 miles away, and it runs no matter what the system is doing - I can ssh in while the system is sitting at the login screen (as I can see with Remote Desktop), do a top -u and RC5 is still crunching away.

Does Darwin Streaming Server or QuickTime Streaming Server do mp4/m4p streaming?

icecast. works all the time, you can set it to start on computer's startup, or on someone's login. it survives between logins/logouts. streams music. and it makes french fries.
