Flat Panel monitor backlight issue. HELP!

in Genius Bar edited January 2014
My CRT died this week, so I finally made the leap to a flat panel monitor. I bought an 18 inch Princeton. The screen is much brighter on the bottom half than the top.

How can I tell if this is a problem with the monitor itself, or some other issue?

Macfixit.com had the following info: "I had this problem as well. It turned out that a peripheral attached to a proprietary PCI card in the Power Mac was being turned on and off while the computer was on, this, in turn, would de-regulate the amount of voltage carried by the video card to the display (this is an ADC display and an NVIDIA card). Hitting the CUDA switch (Editors Note: The CUDA switch is a small silver button located on the motherboard near the middle of a small square box on most Power Macs) fixed it."

I can't even find that switch on my Quicksilver.

Anyone else have this problem?

If the problem persists, contact the product vendor.

I think we found your problem. This company, unfortunately, does not carry quite the same level of prestige as a certain Ivy that shares the name.
