k so my boss wants us to buy a betacam deck for a little place, but I'm having a hell of a time figuring out what would make it work on a shoestring budget. We got ahold of an old UVW-1800 deck, and I have to be able to work on my powerbook or our Powermac g4. My question is whats a good A--D (Analog/Digital) converter out there for a real good price? I remember seeing one somewhere in here that had firewire and everything on it, breakout box with DV, component, Svideo, and possibly XLR is what I need.

how about a USB adaptor to a 422A serial port? Do they even still make those? Its for deck control... I wonder if theres a message board out there for just video professionals...

Check out a company called Canopus at canopus.com. They make multiple A to D converters from consumer level to professional. I myself have a canopus advc-100 and am very happy with it.

    I hope that helps
