From Linksys to Airport?
I had a terrible time the other day when I changed from a non extreme Airport Base Station to the newest Extreme version. I just was not able to connect my PC's to the internet.
It got to the point that I went out and purchased a Linksys wireless router, which Linksys talked me through and got everything up and going, including my Mac. I was surprised that my Mac recognized the connection immediately without having to run any software.
Now my question, should I be able to just substitute the Airport Extreme Base Station for the Linksys router and be able to be connected to the internet.
I'm a little nervous to try this before getting some feedback considering what I went through.

Ditch the base station. Sell it, pocket the huge difference in price. The Linksys will do everything. If it's like my US robotics base station, you can access proxy/firewall setting via a web browser (read the manual).
edit: Unless you meant 'now that the Lynksys is set up, can I just remove it, put the base station in it's place, and expect everyhting to work?'
No. Whatever problem you had before still exists. It may be that the ABS is blocking other computers for security reasons. Fire up the base station utility software on your mac and try and figure out what's up (or call Apple).
