mp3 problems

i downloaded an mp3 but when i double click it to play it, iTunes launches but the mp3 doesn't play and doesn't show up in the playlist. however the mp3 does play with quicktime. what can i do to change this?

    which versions of each are you playing with? qt pro?



    what does the qt info window say about the mp3

    iTunes v4.0.1 (117) Quicktime 6.3 (not pro)



    Quicktime says:

    MPEG Layer -3 Audio, Stereo, 44.1 khz 16 bits

    Data rate: 19.0 K bytes/sec



    it won't play in Audion either. weird



    i opened it in Peak LE and it won't let me save as mp3, granted i'm not that familar with this program yet

    i jst discovered the quictime mp3 is 'continuous' so i assume it's a streaming mp3
