Hooking up iPod to car stereo via cassette tape

When I picked up my new used car I knew it had no CD player. Initially I thought it would be pretty easy to install an in-dash one since I just wanted a basic player.

Then I realized how much cheaper it would even be by mounting my iPod onto the dash somewhere and just using one of those CD/cassette adapters.

Anyone doing this? I'm just wondering if these adapters degrade the sound of MP3's even more than they already are?

I don't notice much sound degradation with mine, but there IS a bit of tape "hiss" from the heads reading the cassette adapter. If you can tolerate that, it's a pretty good option.

Great for long trips. Since I don't have a changer, I'd always have to fumble with a new CD. The Ipod makes it easy.
