My brother is the landlord of an apartment building. My brother would like to setup a Mac at the building as a webcam surveillance system for the purpose of being able to track what's going on in the halls, driveway, basement, stairs to the attic, garbage area, and possibly side street. I would say about 6 camera's in all. I would appreciate any leads on how to do it. Also, what is the software we need to create such a multiple webcam surveillance system?

I know of some wireless webcams for security that can be used if he needs surveillance away from the machine, while ones that are close can use firewire.

    Webcam Info

Past that I would figure you would need a nice big HD to store 20 pics from the cameras. I would have them capture stills every 20 seconds and just store them on the comp - cycling the pics through the week.

In terms of software to help you I really dont know anything too good on the market.

I messed around with Security Spy. It was okay. Your hardware req's are high though. So many cameras. The site has some suggestions on that too.

Oh and he should probably tell the people living there they are being spied on.
