Apple mail client outgoing mail problem

I just got my Powerbook G4 last week, went from dialup to Roadrunner as well as getting a Netgear router. Everything is kosher except for not being able to send mail through the Apple mail client. I basically set up the exact same acccount information as I was using with my dialup G3 connection, but I keep getting the following error:



The outgoing mail server "xxx.xxx.com" failed to deliver this message. Verify that you have addressed this message correctly. Check your SMTP server settings in Mail Preferences and verify any advanced settings with your system administrator.



I checked and doublechecked all my info but to no avail. Am I missing something here?

    Is your outgoing mail server set to smtp-server.city.rr.com?

    I have it set to an SMTP server

    Did you try connectin with another mail client?

    You have to set it to the right SMTP server, though.
