problem with ibook sound

Hi,

I have a problem with my brothers ibook.

While using headphones I noticed that the left channel is louder than the right channel.

My first thought was that it comes from a bad encoded mp3, but the same thing happens when playing a DVD.

Second guess was that the heaphones were defect. To check that I tried the headphones with my iPod and TV/stand alone DVD-player, had no sound problems with those setups.

The ibook is a 12" Combo with 800Mhz, 640MB RAM, 32MB Video and Airport.

Any suggestions?

    press option F3

this should take you to the sound control panel...

    check out the balance

make sure it is in the middle

    problem should go away

yeah this is a documented bug... sometimes the sound balance gets out of whack if you use the keyboard volume keys during heavy processor/disk use...

    what os are you using?

I don't think it has been fixed yet... but I am encountering the problem less... although that could be due to the fact that I am aware of how the bug is caused...
