configuring AirPort client for 3rd party wireless router

I just got a new roommate, and one of the things that he brought with him was an older 3rd-party wireless access point. He uses it to connect his Linux-based PDA to the Internet.

I have some friends with iBooks and PowerBooks, and I was wondering how to connect people when the 128-bit WEP key is enabled.

Yes, I've tried using the WEP key maker, but that doesn't seem good enough on its own.

The wireless works in Windows (which automatically generates the key) and Linux (which requires you to manually input the key.) But Airport keeps telling me that the password is incorrect.

What am I doing wrong?

Try putting a dollar sign in front of the 128-bit hex value, sometimes that works.
