iMac beeps 3 times at startup?
I have a 3rd generation CRT iMac that just freaked out.
It runs OS 9, so naturally I reboot it daily. :0)
I went to reboot it today and it never came back to life.
It starts up, beeps LOUD 3 times, and then the green power button changes to orange and flashes FAST 3 or 4 times. No CRT, no drive activity (booting), nothing. Just a blinking orange button. Yikes.
Is she dead, Doc?
I read this:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58780
I reset the PMU and I reseated the RAM. No luck
Another doc say this:
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks (thats me?)
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
The iMac hasn't had ANY hardware upgrades or FireWare flashes in years. It's in a realitivly cool place with no direct sunlight. How could my RAM die on me?
