Hi,

To my suprise, my Sony USB flash drive thingy won't let me rename it. The finder will let me rename the boot volume and others attached by firewire, but not this, even from the 'get info' window. Any ideas?

Use Disk Utility to reformat the disk, and change the name there.

Might be a permissions thing, hit get info and see if they're the same as your local drives.

Right, I've got info, changed the permissions so that I can read and write, and that noone else can read or write, but as soon as I close the box and get info again, it reverts to everyone read and write - what's happening?

    thanks,

You don't have enough privilege over the disk, you have to do it as root. Rather than going through the terminal go to mac update and search for an app that will let you adjust them graphically by just providing your root password. LIke this.
