Why no promo G5 material @ stores?

It's bad enough to go into a CompUSA and not find a single G5 (even a demo floor model) a month or more after the Stevenote, but why doesnt Apple at least have some brochures and sexy promo pieces out there? I have see a LOT of people wander into the Mac section, only to walk back out and shrug. I find it very weird. Maybe Apple announces stuff too early. Talk about "vaporware"!

I went into the Apple Store in Buffalo and on the big screen in the store, they were running the G5 video that was introduced at WWDC.

Maybe, since they're not coming for a month+, Apple wants you to buy a 1.42 Ghz that's in stock rather than a G5.

Well, this shouldn't surprise anyone, unfortunately. The same thing happened with the iMac LCD. There was no promotional material, let alone stock, available anywhere for five or six weeks after the introduction. Then SJ bumped up the price and iMac boxes started streaming in -- the price bump seemed to coincide exactly with the first shipments. Unfortunately, the extra $100 tacked on did little to bring back so many customers who left frustrated weeks earlier because of the total lack of product. I wonder when Apple's going to figure out that this strategy doesn't work well.

As far as I can remember, Apple has never put out brochures in their stores of product that is not on display and/or available for sale. However, in my local store there are display cards near the G4s showing the G5 and saying you can pre-order them.

They do? G5s that you can test-drive? Or just promo material? Does anyone know of other stores that have G5s out on tablesfor demo? I'm going to Rockingham today, so I guess I'll find out.

Sorry, should have been more clear. I meant they have G4's in stock. Another person said his local store doesn't.
