my favorite is on wabash and wacker hotel monaco it's small but way funky, all the rock and hip/hop tours try to stay there. they give you a goldfish in your room, great sound systems in the rooms too.
Ah! That's the other one I couldn't think of last night. Sounds perfect. Thanks!
[B]the new park hyatt on chicago (by the water tower on michigan, actually it's right across the street from compusa) is quite lovely, nice restaurant with a view of michigan avenue.
I see that restaurant a couple times a week, and it's always seemed really strnge to me. Like a people-quarium sticking out of the side.

NoMi (north michigan, get it?) has a great view!
the food is kind of a french asian fusion, and like many french places i found it difficult to relax. much like a fish bowl. but i guarantee any female in your party will love NoMi.
one other thing about the hotel monaco, they have a connecting french restaurant (not owned by the hotel) that has the distinction of being the only place i've walked out of twice. (they actually gave my wife curdled milk, and when we complained, acted as if it was somehow our fault)
so if you do stay at the hotel monaco it would behoove you to take a short walk to the billygoat tavern to dine, especially before or after a cub victory on their inevitable march to the world series vs. the white sox!
eating at the billy goat would provide two things, nourishment and driving scott up a wall.
Scott I didn't know you lived in the Robert Taylor homes...
Friend of mine was down there a few days ago... took one wrong turn, went one block too far and almost had his ass handed to him for nothing. I don't even like driving down there, and I know where I'm going for the most part. It's not even a racial thing I'm describing (since you mentioned "projects" people might assume that's what I meant). People just seem to be in asshole mode on the south side. No offense...

what's amazing about comiskey ("the cell") is they only have one part of the stadium that gets a view, and they chose that opening to look upon the robert taylor homes, swivel the stadium 90 degrees north and it would look out onto one of the greatest and least seen views of the chicago skyline. go figure. at least it's not named after the cheapskate comiskey anymore.
interesting note about chicago baseball, between the cubs and the sox they have THROWN a world series since the last time either has won one.
You can't just do that. The first base line has to point that way. Them's the rules.
I was at a 4th of July game once. Some people in RTH were shooting fireworks out the window. So then one of them starts to have a small draft of smoke coming out of it. Then it larger and thicker. Five minutes later it's going really good. Five minutes after that it's letting up a bit. Then it was over. Our tax dollars up in smoke.
But that's part of the charm of RTH. Some of the windows have thick smoke stains above them, boarded up. It's quaint.
Good. Since Chicago admitted that the 'projects' were a racist attempt to keep all the blacks together and under control, any wrong they do now is well deserved.

I think that's a federal government project. Also hind site is 20/20. When the projects went up no one expected them to turn out that way. They were not intended to be racist (when did Chicago admit that?) but they were in effect. Daley Sr wanted all kinds of controls to push out drug and keep it a family place. But that didn't happen. The projects are a result of do gooder liberalism. They were a huge waste of money and worst of all they isolated a group of people that needed the exact opposite.
But when you're experimenting with other people's money and lives who cares?

No, they're a result of racism. That was my point. That's why I'm glad they're going away. Unfortunately they're being replaced with expensive condos and homes.

Unfortunately it's closed down. Has been for years.
You can brown bag it up there though.

Isn't that the place that cursed the cubs? Can't be that bad.

they lifted the curse in '84 when mother tribune let sam bring his goat in
