Final Cut Pro Problem

Hello!

I just installed FCP4 and I was wondering if anyone could please tell me what is the best way to un-install FinalCut Express which I don't want anymore.

I tried to do it properly by using an un-install program sech as SpringClean but with no success at all. I don't want to simply dump the whole application into the trash as it might do some damage to the rest of the system I believe.

Also, having installed FCP4 on the same drive without uninstalling Express first my question is: Is FCP4 gonna have any problems at all being a very similar programme?



Please help!

    Apple really hasn't implimented a system wise uninstall in there OS(which they should). If you have the space on your HD. And having both on the system, I'd just leave it. Otherwise I don't see any hurt in just draging FCXpress to the trash. I do that on my computers. The only things which are left behind are the prefs in the libraries folder, which you can search through and delete, but they only take up 1MB total, take or give a few.

    Welcome to Macintosh. I take it you're new, yes? This is the way 99% of uninstallations will go on Mac OS X.



    Step 1: drag the app to the trash. Step 2: empty trash. There is no such thing on Mac like the Windows registry. Apps are nearly always self-contained. Any support files an app may put in the Library folders are just that: support files. They'll contain your settings and preferences, usually nothing more. The support files in the Library folders will never touch anything or do something else. These files will use no resources except for maybe a few megs of hard drive space.



    There really is no reason for Apple to develop an "uninstaller" for apps. As I said, the VAST majority of apps are removed by simply dragging to the trash. The few apps that do not work this way almost always come with their own uninstallers. If Apple was to mae an uninstaller, developers might start getting lazy and may stop making nice, cleanly self-contained apps like they do now.



    Removing Final Cut Express is just as easy. Drag it to the trash.



    Furthermore, yes, you can have both FCP and FCX on the same drive with no problems.
