Is it legal to take a paintball marker with you on an airplane in the storage beneath you? I mean where all the big luggage goes, because i am planning to buy some and take them with me out of the country.

¿Any Advice?

Well, last time I transported one was prior to Sept. 11, and I had no problem with putting it in checked luggage. Of course, now, you're probably going to want to call your airline and ask. They might actually have a form you have to fill out now.

for example, to carry actual firearms on a flight, there were restrictions you had to follow, and forms that needed to be filled out, etceteras. They could only be checked, mind you. I'm sure that since checked luggage is getting screened, seeing a barrel and a trigger is going to set off alarms. Best to ask the authorities first.

It's legal to take a real gun in your checked baggage, so long as its unloaded and you declare it. I'm sure paintball guns are ok, if you do the same. Compressed CO2 cartridges are probably not ok, though - check with your airline.

Paintball guns can be adapted to become W.O.M.D.

id say dissasemble it, purge every last drop out of ur co2 tank (wouldnt want the burst disk blowing out at 30,000 feet) and let them know about every last part of it.

oh, and just to be safe, let them know b4 u get to the airport, call the airline and see what they say.

As others have said different airlines have different rules. Compressed air == air florida. Remember that one? I can't imagine that a bursting CO2 cylinder would do anything to a plane if it were packed in the hold but ... you don't want to mess with those people these days.
