Slot Loading Drive for CRT iMac

Hi-

I'm looking to upgrade the CD-RW in my Graphite 600Mhz CRT iMac.

I know I need a slot loading drive, and I am open to a Superdrive if the price isn't too crazy. It's so damn slow. I upgraded the RAM to 768MBs and the hard drive to a faster 7200 RPM drive. So far, so good.

Are there some drives that the iMac simply won't accept? Anyone have any problems with specific drives that I should not purchase under any circumstances?

I tried pricewatch, but the interface made it extremely cumbersome trying to find slot v. tray drives.

Suggestions?

Finding a slim slot-loading CDRW is going to be hard, and you will probably have to spend a lot of money. It would be far more practical to get a fast CDRW, Combo drive, or Superdrive in an external Firewire enclosure. It also gives you an easy and cheap upgrade path in the future - you can just swap out the mechanism for a faster one when the multi-laser 120x CDRWs hit the market
