Has anyone had a chance to use them yet? I just tried them out and it's cool. Have your bookmarks anywhere on any platform if you've got a modern browser. I'm loving .mac more and more by the day.
i initially thought .mac was a bit of a ripoff (and frankly i think it was at the time)... i didn't "need" virus software, and i had a yahoo mail account...
i broke down and did it, and actually i'm loving .mac more all the time. the homepage is great for sharing things with mom, iSyncing all my contacts, bookmarks, and calendars on any mac i use is absolutely brilliant and is way more handy than i ever thought it would be. iDisk is also a godsend for keeping stuff accessible between work and home, and i've just started migrating my mail to .mac mail instead of yahoo and it's so much nicer.
i give it a hearty two thumbs up.
p.s. - the new iDisk functionality in Panther will definitely up the ante in convenience...
Would you say it's worth the $99 a year yet? I'm trying to figure out if I should renew my account in a few months.
There is still that Access Anywhere thing that has yet to be unveiled. \
Just the backup feature alone is worth it. Add iSync to that mix and it's great. I use several different macs depending on where I am and it's nice to have them all working together.
I have to chime in here and say that I'll be more than happy to pony up my renewal in October for .mac!
For those who say "yeah, but it's all stuff that's available everywhere else...", well that's part of the point: it's all right here in one place. I'm not a fan of hopping around 6 different places to deal with my site, any online galleries, check mail remotely, feel like I'm getting adequate protection, have a place to store stuff AND access my address book and bookmarks from any computer anywhere in the world.
Besides, I get it for $69 because I referred a friend to it a couple of weeks ago and she entered my user name/e-mail into the "did someone refer you to .mac?" box.
So crap yeah...$69 for something that works, is this integrated with the OS and my Mac and that I use - to some degree - EVERY SINGLE DAY? You bet!
I'm big on neatness and consistency and ease-of-use. I don't have it in me to go flinging around a bunch of sites, trying to do everything I can - and do - accomplish with .mac.
paul i believe it is $79 not $69 if you refer someone to .Mac
also if you buy a new computer I believe you are also eligible to get the every mac should have .mac promotion and save an additional $30 bringing your net price down to $49 if the new powerbooks come out in time...

It's Anywhere Access. Anyone remember how long that has been up there?
