Deblurring Software
A couple years ago, I saw a little piece on cable about this deblurring software. I think is was on CNN or Headline News. The video had some japanese guys in a lab deblurring a photo. And this photo was extremely blurry to the point that I couldn't make anything out. The software did about 8 to 10 passes. Each pass made it clearer to the point that I could tell that it was a licence plate. By the time they finished it looked like a slightly blurred photo. I could easily make out the numbers on the plate.
Is there anything of that kind of quality that I could get for photoshop? I saw this new filter from Human Software that has a deblur filter but it doesn't compare to the video that I saw.

Now I guess they should have banned me rather than just shut off posting priviledges, because kickaha and Amorph definitely aren't going to like being called to task when they thought they had it all ignored *cough* *cough* I mean under control. Just a couple o' tools.
Don't worry, as soon as my work resetting my posts is done I'll disappear forever.
unofficially, such tools have long history in National Security photo-interpretation.
officially, NASA 'invented' this type of interframe extraction technology
(most recently used to crisp up Columbia foam strike video)
there's a few names for it as a blurry video -> crisp still process...

site includes comparison car video demonstrating license plate extraction
they mention deblurring, but don't specify component tools used

edit:
as far as purely photo tools, no joy from these 61 Googles?
