Blocked Outgoing Email

Fellow AppleInsiderians,



I have just moved into a dorm and started college. The internet is fast, but I can't send email messages through my personal accounts because of their firewall. It's pretty dumb because I can use a web browser to send email messages from the same account. Can I connect to .Mac using whatever port html is sent over? Do I need to change something in the Proxies settings inside the Network settings?
