Hi, after the news from Microsoft that VPC 6.1 doesnt work with the G5 and it will need a big update (VPC 7 ??) to make it works, we will have to wait for a x86 emulator maybe for long time, so, do you think that Apple should work in a solution???

That would just purpetuate Windows-only apps. Apple wants to make compatability for the Mac increase, so they should buy VPC, and keep it under their control.

I voted 'help MS move to G5', but an even better solution would be to buy RealPC (they'd be more likely to sell it out), and modernize it.

Obviously, you haven't been following the news. I believe it was wednesday when the new management at the company RealPC springs from admitted that RealPC for OS X was complete vaporware. Officially announced as late beta, but apparently not one line of code had yet been written. Pack up those dreams of RealPC, ladies and gentlemen. It is not to be.

And a link to the developer's site.

I think Apple'd be better of starting from scratch, if that's what he means (and that is supposing Apple'd even need an x86 emulator).

Apple's success means either they or 3rd parties offers solutions that obviate the need for Windows. It's a slow process but it can be done. Microsofts influence can be diminished but it's not going to happen overnight.

We know that Apple is a hardware company, so they have to try to make the best hardware possible. I think that a Mac that can run Mac OS X, Windows and Linux will be a big seller between people that wants to switch...

Maybe Microsoft may port Windows to IBM 970 someday

Yes I do. It would probably be easier then starting from scratch.

I think that Apple should be so aggressive that Windows won't be a word anymore.
