Copy-Paste WITHOUT the text formatting

How do I copy-paste without all the font/font size/text color staying there? It's really annoying trying to copy-paste from a website I'm viewing in Safari to an IM with a friend in iChat and the text stays white ... on a white background, just because the text on the page was white.

I know that iChat has the option-command-v/c commands for style, but command+v is pasting style too... and Safari doesn't have a copy/paste style option.

Only a workaround: Have a simple text-editor (e.g., BBEdit of www.barebones.com) open, paste it there, copy again an paste it to iChat.

You're going to hate this answer but in MS Word you use "paste special" from the edit menu. You want "unformatted text".
