Any ADSL genii?
C'man telco genius make my day:
My ADSL router is being weird. Not working, for example: the connection is "showtime" according to the configuration page, but when it tries to connect it gives me an "LCP No Response" message aftere a little while. And doesn't work. I can't do an ADSL end-to-end line test without it failing. So it won't connect but it does seem to be kind of working too.
Now here's the interesting bit: if the router is plugged into the wall there's a huge racket on any phone or dial-up modem. You say "Filter! It's your filters!" but it's not ... it won't connect even with nothing plugged in anywhere in the building but its own plastic ass. And I bought a brand new filter, tested it at work, and the darn thing still won't work.
What's the betting: ISP? Physical line fault? Operator stupidity?
Any ideas?

It would help if you'd at least indicate what model and make you have, what firmware revision etc. and maybe some screenshots ...
It's a Dlink DSL-604, router with wireless networking. Latest software.
Any chance you can get ahold of another one and see if IT works plugged into the same outlet ? ... would be an easy way to rule out your phone lines as the source of the problem. (Or confirm that that IS your problem.)
Good luck .... I'd hate being without my broadband !!
(or my Airport)

Could be the router is "bad".

I did just that ... exact same router. Didn't work. And I had the telco in to look at the physical line. No problem there either. Hmm. Hmm.
That is why I use wireless.
