bulletin board won't stop emailing me

no matter how many times i go to my options (or is it profile) and turn off "email me responses to subscribed threads by default," i still get an email EVERY SINGLE TIME. can anyone here tell me if there's anythign i can do? if not, can a mod or admin, please?
