Anyone use Soundtrack yet?
I video some weddings for a side hobby and to make a little extra cash. Want to do eveything legally and not use copyrighted music. All royalty-free stuff I've found sounds terrible. Was thinking of getting Soundtrack and attempting to make my own music. But wanted to ask a couple of questions prior to plunking down $300. Anyone use it yet? Is it pretty easy to use and can one make some pretty decent music with it? All comments are appreciated!

Macworld said it was so fun that it was addictive.
That's a good quality in an app.
One last quick question or two. When I bought my iMac earlier this year, I bought FCP3 also, but have never learned it as iMovie 3.0.3 does everything I need with the weddings and I am still intimidated by the FCP3 interface. If I buy Soundtrack, I'll be able to use the music I create in iMovie, right? And would you suggest I but Soundtrack or just upgrade to FCP4 which includes Soundtrack as well? Though I currently do not use FCP, seems like for $399 rather than $299, might as well upgrade FCP to version 4 in case I ever start to use it. After all, it's just $100 more. Thanks again for your insight!

I would upgrade to FCP4. Even if you decide not to use it you will gain Soundtrack and Compressor(much better MPEG2 Encoding) and only be out the additional C Note. Not too shabby.

As far as learning Final Cut pro ..take your time. I've dabbled with it and even for just basic stuff you should be fine. There is no shortage of excellent books as well. Good luck to you.
And Soundtrack is designed for EXACTLY your purpose. It's extremely easy to use, even for someone who knows absolutely nothing about music, there are a ton of loops (make sure you also have a ton of space for them), and still fun for someone who knows a lot about music.... although for creative expression, the fun wears off in a week or two. But, you can also import loops from almost any format, and you can export tracks to use however you like, as well. There are plenty of string quartet loops, really high quality, and classy, that would suit your needs perfectly. Sounds like Soundtrack is exactly what you need.
I found Soundtrack to be incredibly easy to use and fun. I only spent a few minutes with the app and was able to quickly assemble a multi-track piece.
If you just want a good audio app, Soundtrack is a good idea. I didn't get a chance to play with sample creation/import however.
I've also done extensive video editing, and Final Cut Pro really does rock. (Still use iMovie when I don't need all the killer features, but thats another story.) If you need both FCP and Soundtrack, the combo is a killer pair.
Soundtrack is an amazing little audio app, and appears to include all of the logic platinum plugs, which is a huge deal.
