What's up with the October edition of Macworld?

Not one mention of the G5. It is as if it has been announced yet. It is truly eery. They surely had their mitts on a 1.6 by press time. They could have talked about current benchmarks. They could have talked about shipping issues. They could have at least acknowledged their existence. The silence seems to suggest that they had nothing good to say about them. I don't know. Why would the most popular Mac publication keep silent this month about the most important product perhaps in Mac history? If someone else received their copy and sees something different, please feel free to point it out to me. The front cover is devoted to some nonsense about perfect photos. The reviews feature G4 upgrade cards. In fact, now that i think of it, they do mention the G5 in that review. They say something like "Don't buy a G5 when you can add life to your current computer." Don't take those quotes too seriously. I'm just going off memory. Anyway, it's all very surreal. What gives.

Considering they spent half their September issue talking about the G5, there probably wasn't much more to say without doing a hands-on review, and they just shipped August 18. I'm sure they would have loved to have a review for the October issue, but production deadlines for monthly magazines such as Macworld are often four weeks or more before the magazine hits newsstands. The G5 was announced on June 23, but there wasn't a peep about it in the August issue. That's life. Monthly magazines just don't have quick turnarounds.
