my whole FIREWIRE BUS...just Disappeared !?!
well, this is a new one on me.
Pismo 400MHZ
1/2 gig RAM
2 partitions
1 with 9.1
1 with 10.2
everything was fineand then i plugged a firewire drive in to transfer some files while booted into 10.2.
but the drive didn't show up.
i rebooted into OS9.1 and still no drive.
so i do a system profile and... NO FIRWIRE BUS!?!
i had just used this FW drive on this machine yesterday and everything was cool.

ishut the machine down and tried to boot it as "target" in "firewire target disk mode" and much to my surprise - it worked.
i offloaded most of the important stuff i've got on there.
i'm going to dothe hardware test. good thinking. thanks.
and although i didn't want to do this
i think i'm going to wipe the whole thing,
set up 2 new partitions and do a fresh install of the OS's.
apple system profiler is now showing a firewire bus.
strange.

Always try a reboot before you post or ask a question. Haha rebooting is the universal computer problem solver

Running Windows eh?
i rebooted like 8 or 9 times back and forth between OS9 and OSX partitions.
it was only after utilizing "firewire target disk mode" successfully and then rebooting yet again that there was a recognition of the firewire bus once again.
