The latest status symbol/trend among the baggy-panted Hummer set? Cool.

Makes more sense than a Band-Aid on your cheek, or whatever the hell that guy sports.

I'm waiting to see the first gold-plated one!

iPods are definitely VERY cool (I just spent an hour or so with one yesterday, my first real, hands-on, uninterrupted experience with one), so I don't blame anyone for wanting to show them off!

I'd like to get one shortly.

When the new ones came out, we couldn't get them in Beijing. Had to ask someone to pick it up in Tokyo and bring over on a business trip. Even in Tokyo there was a wait list. Now can you imagine the head turning on this thing in Beijing. Think I got the first one in China!! But having trouble filling 15 Gig and its true the battery life can be better. Hopeless for all day outings until I got the car charger.

We've known for a while that the iPod being simply the greatest mp3 player out there might be the thing to take Apple into the mainstream, it simply is a great machine, even my dad's got one (- before me! If only I had enough cash!)

Let's hope that the visibility of the iPod can translate into computer sales.

As a teenager I watch a fair bit of MTV, the other day I saw Johnnie Knoxville of Jackass with one (no i'm not a big fan of Jackass, I just happened to notice he had an iPod in his car). Over here in the UK, The Sun newspaper are always talking about iPod's in The Bizarre column (I think they do, I don't read the paper myself). I showed the iPod to my gran and she loved it, doesn't have a clue how to use a computer, but thought it was cool anyway.

But really we have to take stock here, what are Apple's aim's with the iPod, is it an advert for Macs, or just something that will make money for Apple? Will Apple be able to make sure that the success of the iPod will mean a greater market share for macs, or do Apple really care that Macs are so much in the minority and that's part of why they're so cool, because it's kind of an exclusive club?

I think it is sort of an advert and a hook to get more people to buy macs. The design on a ipod is great, and simple to use, just like a mac, so if people realize "dem folks dat make dem ipods" also make computers then Apples user base will grow.

If you are referring to the bandaid on Nelly's face, it's homage to his deceased brother IIRC.

Is that eye roll directed at me or Nelly? \

If it's me, then I apologize for not knowing this little tidbit of hip-hop info.

    May he rest in peace.

I also do not watch much mtv, but I watched that making the band 2 show this weekend, and its apple everywhere. From the recording studios with the cinema displays to the imac sitting on a desk in their house.
