Isn't my hopes and dreams enough to sustain the thread
Well, the technologies described in the article are 3-5 years away, projecting back that was in the days of the G3 introduction till the G4 introduction (Moto back then told the world they would be the first to introduce CPUs runnig at 1Ghz). I would not read too much into it, real world performance is determined by a host of factors, proof of concept does not make one chip faster.
In one sentence: I'll start caring about it once it is introduced.
