The never ending "farewell/reunion" tours

I don't understand. Doesn't farewell mean goodbye? Yet so many of these aging rock musicians seem to come back for yet another farewell tour.

If it's not the Who, or the Stones, it's some other dinosaur band who needs to come back to milk the cow completely dry.

The latest being Simon and Garfunkel. I laugh when they say that they're putting their differences aside to come back to play one last time. Didn't they do that in Central Park like 10 years ago and then again a few years after that. Then they were on the Grammys together. Yeah, they really can't stand each other!

Rock stars are like the shits, sure they go away, but they always come back.

Then they die, and someone creates a thread about them here.

A few years later, Rolling Stone will write a '100 Best Rock Stars Ever' article. It will exclude an important rock star (who will likely be dead).

This will then provoke someone to create a thread on AI again.

    Rinse. Repeat.

sinatra retired all the time too. not just rock stars. it's probably very very difficult to leave all that ego gratification behind.

Yeah, but Sinatra could do what he wanted and still get all the women.

Hmm. To fare well... to do pretty good.

Considering how much these dinosaur bands charge the aging yuppies for tickets, I'd say they are faring pretty well!

And the Eagles are doing it with Hell Freezing Over.

I kinda thought that was a bit more definite that "farewell".

    Oh, well...
