I can no longer install programs in Classic with my G5. ((OS 10.2.7)

Whenever I try to install, it launches Classic, and goes

about the normal set-up routine.

Right before the install it tells me that no other applications

can be running. Click continue to automatically quit all other

running applications etc.

When I do this, the mouse pointer turns into the

animated watch face and just sits there.

It refuses to continue with the installation.

I tried the following.

I went in to the OS9 system folder and turned on just the base extensions.

I temporarily trashed the OS9 applications folder and again, it will not work.

I have no idea why it is telling me that no other applications can be running before the install. There appears to be nothing running.

Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Have you tried running Disk Utility's repair permissions function?

I don't know what your problem is, but just to give you some reasurance, it is definitely possible to install apps via Classic with a G5: one of the first things I did with my 1.8 was install Toast Lite (so I could then install the OS X update) and it ran perfectly in Classic.

I tried running the Disk Utility Repair Permission,

    still no luck.

I was abel to install OS9 programs in Classic

when I first got the computer about 2 weeks ago.

This problem just cropped up over the past day or so.

It appears that it is looking for something to shut

down before the install, but I have no idea what it

    could be.

Everytihng in the dock closes, but then it just hangs.
