help with mail app

For some reason that is unbeknowest to me when I recieve emails with jpeg attachments from my boss, they end up looking like complete gibberish. as if someone just randomly hit keys filling about ten pages of text. Other attached emails (like word documents etc) come out fine from him. He is not the most tech savvy person so I doubt I'll be able to work the problem on his end. Ideas and suggestions please!
