Obligatory-My Ti still kicks a$$ and takes names thread

My Powerbook G4@500 has already had to deal with the fact it isn't the latest and greatest produced anymore. However it soothed itself with the fact that at least a member of its geneology was still whipping a$$ and taking names.

However today, it learned that there will be no more Ti's and thus it is officially "middle aged" or over the hill.

I'm trying to reassure it that it is still virile. I swore to it that no one noticed the receding hairline or the increase around the middle. I've promised it a ram upgrade as a sort of sports car to make it feel younger.

My Powerbook still does pretty darn well though. Sure the 8 megs of vram will likely kill its usefulness before the processor does. (Apple what were you thinkin'?) However for now it whips along pretty well for an older guy!

(whispering) But the new Powerbooks do have a $200 EDUCATIONAL DISCOUNT! (thoughtful murmuring) Hmmm... maybe the wife wouldn't mind having this laptop...

Damn you Apple!

I'm typing this on a TiBook 867. Like many others, I have ordered, and am eagerly awaiting the new aluminum 1.25 GHz 15-inch. I just have had my share of frustrating moments with the Ti's design and flaws. But "Cheers" to the Titanium PowerBook nonetheless!

I also ordered the 1.25 15" this morning. While I certainly enjoyed my Ti400, I certainly do not miss it (now). More so because of the one soon to be delivered to my front door. This morning, I saw the guy I sold my old Ti; he loves it! But then again, he was upgrading from an even older Pismo.

I am really happy with the new 15" Al PowerBook offering from Apple. It keeps the best features from the old Ti's, yet leaves the first and second generation way behind in both raw power and performance. Specially under OS X.

Perhaps those who own the latest Ti's could wait until the 0.9 G5 gets into portables. On my case, even if I had not been able to get rid of my Ti400, I'd still had ordered the new one today.

    Cheers 8)
