Well I am almost out of the grasp of Microsux! I have become a recent convert and went from 0 Macs to 4 in 2 months! And today I get to work and the IM department tells me there is a new Linux image for our laptops! As of tomorrow I am no longer a Windows user! I just wish I could use my Powerbook for work! They support Windows and Linux but not Mac!! Darn it!

And why can't you install Linux on your PowerBook and use it for work?

    What is there to support?

Heck, if could get my iBook to work on our incredibly complicated Novell Network, I'm pretty sure you can get it integrated in your company network (or whatver support you need)

Why would someone buy a new Apple computer or server and run YDL?

    What's wrong with OS X?

The problem I have is that I need a machine that is remote. The VPN software for work is only written for Windows and Linux. I have the Entourage working but if I can't map network drives and the harddrive is not encripted so I am not supposed to have compay documents on it. So basically I cannot connect remotely, connect to my drives, or encript my hard drive. Other than that I would be using it today.

Um, I trust the fellows in tech support are doing their homework, because there is a VPN client for OS X from Cisco.

Bring your Mac in and show them Terminal.app execute 'pico' or just do 'ls /'. That could start turning them around. (And help switch a couple to boot ).

Unfortunately I work for a high tech company with almost 60,000 employees. I would have a tough time convincing them to let me use a Mac.

Let you use? Why not make them convince you of why you can't use a Mac?

Maybe direct one of them to this thread, and we'll have fun with him or her.
