A friend's problem with a Studio Display

My friend (a switcher, of my converting) just bought a G4 with studio display. He says that 15 minutes after starting up, a couple lines appear across his screen, and then more and more lines appear. Then the lines gradually fade away. I'm assuming that this is a video problem, and the transparency of the lines suggests an OpenGL prob.



Any thoughts?
