low profile im client

here's what I'm looking for...

since we all chat at work, which we probably shouldn't be doing... isn't there a good lowprofile im client?



Here's what I'm looking for...

tabbed im sessions for the different people one talks to... something like snaks interface of channels, now that makes perfect sense! I mean, sure we all have 22in monitors now but seriously,..four ichat windows kills every all the desktop space in notime.

aside from that,..something that ports aim, msn, icq, and all the other like proteus/fire/trillian do...



anyone else feel the need for compressed im'ing?

Adium is exactly what you're looking for. It has tabs, and even a three-paned window option for the buddy list in one pane, the chats in the second pane, and text input in the third. Pretty slick. But it's OS X-only. If you want one for Windows, I don't know, you might be out of luck. I've only heard of Trillian and AIM.
