Moved to GD: Don't tell me that this is true...

I saw a news announcement on Macrumors.com a few days ago, about a new Dell laptop with a wide screen TFT. It didn't matter to me. "Its just an Apple knockoff", I thought, "no threat at all." Then I became a little curious. I wanted to see the screen specs and the processor specs, so I visited the Dell site. And what a nasty surprise did I see. This laptop, a 15", packs more or less the same amount of pixels as the high-end 23" Cinema Display. The current Tibook has less than two thirds the resolution. What are we going to do?

...before it scorches off your penis. You know what? Who cares about that computer, it still can't run Mac OS X.

Please, instead fo writing titles that tempt people to click, simply summerize your thread. "Dell releases a widescreen dispaly".

    Why is that so hard?

    Wrong forum, IBL.

Hopefully nothing. I would never want to stare a screen with resolution that high.

I would want it that high, if OS X allowed the interface elements to be scaled independently of the resolution. I think that a good move in 10.3 would be a vector-based UI.

None of us here, but being ignorant about the fact that we have some pretty competitive competitors doesn't help anything. But I guess whining about what dell has and we don't doesn't solve anything either...(diss to me)

Cnet will soon have news headlines reading, Man goes blind after using widescreen Dell for three hours.

How in the world could you use a screen that has the same number of pixels as a 23" screen. What was Dell thinking?
